Nilufer Yalcin, MD

Biography

Dr. Nilufer Yalcin is a neurologist specializing in neurocritical care based in Boston, MA. She completed her residency in Neurology at Tufts Medical Center and her fellowship in Neurocritical Care at Rush University Medical Center. Currently, she serves as the Director of Neurocritical Care at Boston Medical Center Brighton and an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. Yalcin has conducted post-doctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School, focusing on cortical spreading depolarization and transcranial magnetic stimulation in stroke recovery. She was honored with the Resident Research Award at Tufts and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. Her main research and clinical interest is the role of cortical spreading depolarization in SAH, TBI and acute stroke patients.

Before joining Boston Medical Center Brighton, she served as a neurointensivist and Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Wellstar MCG Health/Medical College of Georgia, where she was recognized as a Woman Who Inspires and received the Early Impact Award. Dr. Yalcin is an active member of the AAN, NCS, and SCCM, and contributes to the NCS Currents editorial board and SCCM Neuroscience Section committees.
