Biography

Jaimie L. Gradus is a Professor of Epidemiology at Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) and Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. She is the Director of the both the BUSPH Center for Trauma and Mental Health and the BUSPH Epidemiology Doctoral Program. Her research interests are in the epidemiology of stress and trauma, psychiatric disorders, and suicide. Dr. Gradus has led and been a part of teams that have received numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and various foundations, totaling almost $30 million in grant funding. She has published over 150 scientific articles within the field of psychiatric epidemiology. Dr. Gradus is an Editor of the American Journal of Epidemiology and the Journal of Traumatic Stress, a Scientific Advisor to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and a standing study section member for the Health Services Research and Development Scientific Merit Review Board - Mental and Behavioral Health in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Gradus has been the recipient of the Carol J. Rowland Hogue Outstanding Midcareer Achievement Award from the Society for Epidemiologic Research and the Inaugural Breslau/Murphy Award from the American Psychopathological Association.
