Biography

Gopal Yadavalli, MD, FACP, earned his BS in Science from Penn State University and his MD from Jefferson Medical College. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where he also served as Chief Resident.

He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine, and Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Yadavalli’s clinical expertise focuses on general infectious diseases, with a particular interest in HIV medicine, health equity, and global health.

Dr. Yadavalli is a passionate educator and mentor and a national leader in medical education. He served as Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Boston Medical Center from 2011 to 2023 and has been Vice Chair for Education since 2017. He has served as Councilor for the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM) and as Chair of the Wellness Committee for the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM). He is currently an At-Large Member for the Training Program Director Community of Practice Leadership Work Group of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).

In addition to his clinical and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Yadavalli is deeply committed to promoting diversity and equity in medicine. He chairs the Department of Medicine’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Week Committee and served as the inaugural Program Director for the Ravin Davidoff Executive Fellowship in Health Equity at Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Yadavalli is the recipient of several awards in recognition of his excellence in teaching and leadership, including the Program Leadership Award from Boston Medical Center, The Robert Dawson Evans Special Recognition Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine, Induction to Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Society, and the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
