Biography
Emily Hamlyn, MSN, is an Instructor of Neurology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a Nurse Practitioner in the Stroke Division at Boston Medical Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Master of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
With extensive experience in neurology and stroke care, Ms. Hamlyn serves as Chief Advance Practice Provider and Senior Manager of Inpatient Operations for the Department of Neurology at Boston Medical Center. Her clinical expertise focuses on stroke management and patient-centered care, while her leadership roles enhance inpatient neurology services and operational efficiency. Previously, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Angels Neurological Centers and as a Registered Nurse in the Clinical Research Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Ms. Hamlyn is a dedicated educator, having served as a Stroke Nurse Educator at Boston Medical Center and led interprofessional education initiatives for nurse practitioner students. Her research contributions include publications in the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing and Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, addressing stroke care optimization and nursing education. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, serving on its Practice Management & Technology Subcommittee, and participates in Boston University Medical Group committees focused on clinical excellence and strategic planning.
Certified as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC and licensed in Massachusetts, Ms. Hamlyn has received accolades including the 2021 BUMG Advanced Practice Provider Excellence Award and the 2024 Golden Brain Award.
