Faculty is available to perform detailed computational analyses driven by specific biological, biomedical, and health research questions, reports with publications, and grant-ready images and analysis source codes.

Faculty can help define and build standardized workflows customized to fit research needs and provide expertise in analyzing biological, biomedical, and health data from diverse sources.

DSC will contribute to the analytical capabilities needed to support and advance the biomedical and health research of BU faculty.
We offer consultation to discuss the types of analysis and support Data Science Core can provide, in addition to assisting with experimental design to best answer the biological, biomedical and health research questions of interest. Please submit your consultation request form through iLab.

The Data Science Core (DSC) comprises faculty experts that perform detailed computational analyses (including but not limited to high throughput data analysis, biostatistical analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing) driven by specific biological, biomedical, and health research questions, assist with publication reports, and grant-ready images and analysis source codes. Faculty can consult to help define and build standardized workflows customized to fit research needs and provide expertise in analyzing biological, biomedical, and health data from diverse sources. The DSC will contribute to the analytical capabilities needed to support and advance the biomedical and health research of BU faculty. In addition, the core members are BU researchers with their own research program in data science. For consultation request submit form through iLab.

Jinying Chen, PhD
Jinying Chen, PhD, has research focused on method innovation, leveraging natural language processing, machine learning/deep learning, and biostatistics, for biomedical and health research. Dr. Chen collaborates with researchers from diverse backgrounds, and has led or contributed to a variety of research efforts including digital interventions for smoking cessation, monitoring for clinical decision support tools, transitional care in cardiovascular patients, information (e.g., COVID-19 and pain symptoms, hypoglycemia events, cognitive test results) extraction from EHR free text, and cohort creation for Alzheimer’s Disease.
