Congratulations to the following Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine faculty on their recent appointment or promotion.

Clinical Associate Professor

Susana Ebner, MD, Medicine/Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition & Weight Management, is a clinician-educator focusing on thyroid and parathyroid diseases. She joined BU/Boston Medical Center (BMC) as an assistant professor in 1992. She then was recruited to Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2003 serving in various roles until 2024 when she was recruited back to BU/BMC. She serves on the editorial board of Clinical Thyroidology for the Public since2019. Dr. Ebner has been active in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, serving on the editorial board of their journal, Endocrine Practice, since 2021. She is a member of the Endocrine Society and American Thyroid Association, where she served on the Clinical Affairs and Public Health committees, and as an ad-hoc reviewer for the British Journal of Medicine and the European Endocrinology Journal and as an ad-hoc member of the Editor-in-Chief Selection Task Force for Clinical Thyroidology.

Caitlin Neri, MD, MPH, Pediatrics, is a clinician-educator who focuses on the care of children with sickle cell disease, management of painful conditions in childhood, interdisciplinary pediatric care, social determinants of health, and medical education. She is a clinical hematologist providing inpatient and outpatient care to children with sickle cell disease, and other blood disorders. Dr. Neri is the co-founder and medical director of the interdisciplinary Pediatric Pain Clinic at BMC, founded in 2015. This unique program uses a team approach to provide comprehensive medical, psychosocial, and integrative therapies to pediatric patients with chronic pain. She is a medical educator in pre-clerkship sciences where she was involved in the recent curriculum redesign and now serves as co-course director for Principles Incorporating Science Clinical Medicine and Equity (PISCEs) as well as directing the PISCEs hematology module.

Debjani Sahni, MBBS, Dermatology, specializes in the medical care of cutaneous oncology patients including cutaneous lymphoma, melanoma and high-risk non-melanoma skin cancer. She is the director of the multi-disciplinary cutaneous oncology program and the cutaneous oncology fellowship. Her clinical research focuses on the management of skin cancers in patients with limited access to healthcare. Dr. Sahni was named the G. Robert Baler Junior Faculty Professor of Dermatology, in recognition of her contributions to the department of dermatology. She is the recipient of several teaching awards as well as the Boston University Medical Group Excellence in Care Award.

Elizabeth Yellen, MD, Pediatrics, is a clinician-educator who has overseen the pediatric preventive cardiac service at BMC since 2009, helping to ensure patients receive screening and treatment for hyperlipidemia and hypertension. She enjoys a joint clinical appointment with Boston Children’s Hospital, where she also focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with lipid disorders. Dr. Yellen joined the Medical Education Office in 2017 as assistant dean for Affiliated Sites and director of the Kaiser Permanente Regional Campus in Silicon Valley, Calif. She has created and supports faculty development for educators in the community in both New England and Northern California, and is a member of the AAMC group on Regional Medical Campuses. She has served as the associate pediatric clerkship director and continues to mentor students interested in pursuing pediatrics as a field-specific advisor.
