Bringing People Together since 1874.

Almost 150 years ago, the five members of Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s first class created the Alumni Association with these words:

“The undersigned, members of the first class of the Boston University College of Medicine, desirous of keeping up our mutual relations for the benefit of the Medical Department of the above named University, and for the pleasure and good we may derive therefrom, do organize ourselves into an association.”

Through the Years

Early on, association meetings served as forums to promote high standards of medical practice, important in a time of controversy over the efficacy of homeopathy.

In the 1930s and 1940s, the association created an endowment to support new academic departments and to build classrooms and laboratories.

The 1950s brought a campaign to raise scholarship aid from alumni which continues to this day.

The Instructional Building was erected in the 1960s with significant support from alumni; in fact, the building’s Alumni Medical Library was named in their honor.

Over the years, the school has transformed and expanded it’s physical footprint. Key projects include the 2012 opening of a $40 million on-campus Medical Student Residence, the addition of the Godley Digital Media Studio, renovations to the Alumni medical Library, Gross Anatomy lab, and the new Learning Center on the fourth floor of the Instructional Building.

Over the decades, alumni have served Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine as officers and directors, faculty, administrators, benefactors, class agents, fundraisers, and reunion organizers. Each year brings a new class ready to join the ranks and help make Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine even better than when they graduated.

Our Mission

“Fostering connections between and among alumni, faculty, administration and students at the School of Medicine”

We continue to fulfill our mission by bringing alumni, faculty, administration and students together through support and networking opportunities, alumni weekends and regional events.

In addition, we are developing new affinity-based programs based on alumni input, such as Early Medical School Selection Program Homecoming.
