BU Chobanian & Avedisian SOM Above & Beyond Staff Award

The BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine “Above & Beyond Staff Award” is a recognition given to a non-faculty staff member who has consistently gone beyond their expected job responsibilities, demonstrating exceptional dedication, initiative, and performance by taking on extra tasks, exceeding quality standards, or making significant contributions that positively impact the team and School of Medicine’s mission and values.

This annual award will be given to up to two exemplary staff members.

Eligibility:

  • BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Staff who have been with the school for at least 3 years.
  • Past recipients are not eligible.

Criteria for nomination:  Though these criteria are not exhaustive, competitive nominees will have demonstrated some of the following”

  • Excellence in administration, education, research, or community partnership.
  • Exceptional skill, knowledge, commitment and work ethic in their role.
  • Brings new ideas, processes, or solutions that significantly improve outcomes or workflows.
  • Finds innovative solutions to challenges and is not afraid to think outside the box.
  • Takes initiative in identifying problems and leading efforts to resolve them effectively.
  • Works collaboratively with others across departments, fostering a positive, cooperative team environment.
  • Leads or actively participates in projects that introduce positive changes or improvements.

Who can nominate:  SOM students, staff, or faculty can nominate for this award.

Nomination Process: A formal nomination letter addressing the most outstanding attributes of the staff member based on the above criteria should be submitted to BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Committee Awards Committee (camedfao@bu.edu).

The nomination letter should not exceed two pages with a minimum font 11-point font and must include: 

  • Nominee’s name, department, and title
