A member of our community since 2004, Morera received his MD from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He has served as director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology for 18 years.

Morera’s nominators say, “His passion for putting patients and families first has led to his growing expertise and leadership on the importance of cultural competence and humility in healthcare. At the bedside during a consult, during a clinic encounter or a discussion about running our clinical services, Dr. Morera has become an expert and respected authority on ensuring we integrate culturally informed approaches to the diverse communities we serve. This has led, in part, to his developing a first of its kind Pediatric Spanish and Cultural Sensitivity elective, during which medical students participate in learning and applying strategies to engage more effectively with patients of the Latine culture, while learning about their own implicit and explicit biases in the process.

“Dr. Morera is an extraordinary individual and wonderful colleague!”

Congratulations!
