Join Dirkje S. Postma, MD, PhD, Professor of Pulmonary Diseases in the Department of Pulmonology at the University Hospital Groningen in Groningen, The Netherlands on Tuesday, Sept. 14th, 2010 in BUSM R-309 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. as she discusses “A link between epidemiology, animal and in vitro studies and genetics: asthma and COPD.

Dr. Postma leadsĀ  the Groningen Research Institute for Asthma and COPD (GRIAC). She served on the National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institute/World Health Organization working committee of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and is a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences in the Netherlands, Belgium and U.K. She is the recipient of the 2000 Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO)-Spinoza prize (the highest academic award in the Netherlands). Dr. Postma has published more than 400 papers in journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Thorax, and American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
