American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA)

Advisor: Dr. Angela Jackson,

Student Leaders:

The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) is an organization at the local, national, and international level that works to advance women in medicine and improve women’s health. The primary aims of AMWA at BUSM are to support the ambitions of female students and physicians and to educate future health care providers on the specific health concerns of female patients. These goals will be achieved through education and advocacy events as well as specific mentoring and networking opportunities. Please visit for more information on the national organization. The BUSM chapter has also created the “Words of Women in Medicine” blog to highlight work from female physicians and showcase a diversity of career backgrounds, research and advocacy interests, as well as personal stories about life outside medicine.
