Small Animals Histology Center

The BU Small Animals Histology Center (SAHC) offers quality sectioning and staining. We are here to provide all BU labs with the histology services they seek.

Services

The SAHC provides a variety of services and pricing options to meet your needs ranging from paraffin and frozen sectioning for small tissues, specializing in but not limited to eyes, and performing traditional immunohistochemistry, hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Areas of specialization include:

  • Eyes (including eyes with eyelids)
  • Brains
  • Spleens
  • Blood vessels

We understand the need to produce data in a timely and cost effective manner. * We assist researchers from the initial stages of experimental planning through data acquisition, analysis, and final presentation of results.

Services Internal Rates External Rates
Paraffin Routine= $80 per sample (up to 15 slides, H&E stain and unstained slides)
After 15 slides, each additional slide = $5
Routine = $150 per sample (up to 15 slides, no staining)
After 15 slides, each additional slide = $10
Frozen Sectioning Routine = $75 per sample (up to 15 slides, no staining)
After 15 slides, each additional slide = $5
Routine = $130 per sample (up to 15 slides, no staining)
After 15 slides, each additional slide = $10

*General Wait Time is 3-6 weeks.
