Biography

I aim to find better solutions for sickle cell disease patients by using patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) as a versatile platform to study the disease, screen for compounds that can ameliorate the condition and explore potential curative gene editing approaches. Inherently linked to my efforts in modeling blood-borne diseases, I have a strong interest in understanding the molecular underpinnings of hematopoietic development and differentiation. My research therefore focuses on the development of tools and resources that can help us understand important concepts in hematopoietic development with the goal of translating this knowledge into the realization of the immense potential that iPSCs hold for disease modeling and regenerative medicine.
