Stanley L. Robbins Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Stanley Robbins Award serves to acknowledge Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine scholars, teachers, or innovators in medical student education.

Eligibility

  • All Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine faculty who are directors, co-directors of a module, course, clerkship, or electives are eligible for nomination.
  • Must be Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine faculty for at least 3 years.
  • Previous Stanley Robbins award winners are ineligible.

Criteria for nomination

Though these criteria are not exhaustive, competitive nominees will have demonstrated some of the following:

  • Leadership in innovative curriculum development, curriculum implementation, assessment and scholarly dissemination in the last 2-4 academic years.
  • Teaching evaluations supporting a commitment to the student educational experience
  • Mentoring leadership of other educators and faculty.
  • Active promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in educational pedagogy.

Who can nominate: chairs, deans, vice chairs of education, other educational directors, or co-directors for the medical student curriculum.

Nomination process: A formal nomination letter addressing some of the criteria stated above on a letterhead. The nomination letter should not exceed three pages.
