Seven Faculty Receive BUMG Clinical Excellence Awards

Seven members of the BUSM faculty have received Clinical Excellence Awards from the Boston University Medical Group. The awards, given in four categories, were created in 2017 to recognize and highlight the clinical contributions of faculty who exemplify the mission and values of the Group through their leadership, patient care and innovative perspectives. Recipients become members of the BUMG Clinical Excellence Society.

New Faculty Excellence Award – Given to a new clinician who demonstrates clinical excellence and has made exceptional contributions to the clinical mission of the organization during their first three years of service – Kara C. (KC) LaMattina, MD, assistant professor of ophthalmology, and Sabrina Sanchez, MD, assistant professor of surgery.

Excellence in Care Award – Given to an early or mid-career clinician who demonstrates clinical excellence and is an exceptional role model in their clinical work – Soukaina Adolphe, MD, clinical assistant professor of pediatrics, and Manishi Desai, MD, assistant professor of ophthalmology.

Excellence in Leadership Award – Given to a clinician who demonstrates exceptional clinical leadership, embodies the BUMG core values, and has made noteworthy contributions to enhancing clinical infrastructure and/or supporting excellence in patient care – Eileen Costello, MD, clinical professor of pediatrics and chief of ambulatory pediatrics at Boston Medical Center.

Advanced Practice Provider Excellence Award – Given to an advanced practice provider who demonstrates excellence in collaboration and makes noteworthy contributions to promote patient wellness – Lisa Mendelson, NP, assistant professor of hematology & oncology, and Cherisse Carlo, NP, instructor of general internal medicine.
