AΩA Announces 2017 Resident, Fellow and Alumnus Selections

Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) has announced the BUSM resident and fellow selections for 2017:

  • Matthew Brady, MD (Surgery)
  • Michelle Kuo, MD (Emergency Medicine)
  • Aravind Ajakumar Menon, MBBS, MD (Internal Medicine)

All received consistently outstanding support from AΩA students.

Kenneth Stewart Thompson, MD was chosen as the 2017 BUSM alumnus selection. Dr. Thompson graduated from BUSM in 1982, served his residency in Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University’s Center for Mental Health Services Research.  He is currently a faculty member in the Center for Public Service Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, Chief Medical Officer of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Leadership Council, and immediate past President of the American Association of Social Psychiatry.

Alpha Omega Alpha is the only national honor medical society in the world, and it is organized exclusively for educational purposes. Its aims are the promotion of scholarship and research in medical schools, the encouragement of high standards of character and conduct among medical students and graduates, and the recognition of high attainment in medical sciences, practice, and related fields. Its motto is: “Be worthy to serve the suffering.”

A formal induction ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 5-6:30 p.m. in Hiebert Lounge.
