Anatomy Imaging Med Students Shaffer

  1. Dr.Shaffer is in the midst of a redesign of the Imaging Anatomy section of the first-year Anatomy course at BUSM. Because of COVID limitations on lab exercises and limited time allotted for traditional lectures, she was asked to design group activities for the Imaging Anatomy portion of the course that could be graded. Web-based cases were designed for students to work on in groups, with images for them to submit with their responses to task assignments to Blackboard. Students have completed the first such submission (not graded) for the Introduction to Imaging, and all went well. Students are currently completing assignments for the Back and Limbs section, which will be graded later this week. Two more sessions are planned: Thorax and Abdomen/Pelvis. A resident, Josh Weinstein, has participated in the design of tasks and we have sought feedback from a fourth-year medical student, Daniel Huang, who provided suggestions for edits from the student perspective.
