In his role as the Medical Director of the new MICU on the East Newton Campus Dr Murphy has primarily been concerned with instituting a new model for delivery of intensive care at BU, utilizing a multidisciplinary team of Intensivist, Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows, Hospitalist, and Nurse Practitioners. Dr Murphy, in cooperation with the Critical Care Research Group, has been working to enhance multidisciplinary Critical Care Clinical and Translational research at BMC and collaborate on a number of ongoing clinical trials at BMC. Dr Murphy is also in charge of the didactic curriculum used to instruct rotating house officer on the essential core concepts of critical care medicine. Clinically Dr Murphy Attends in all BMC MICU’s, on the Pulmonary Consult service, the Pulmonary Interventional Service, and in the Boston Department of Public Health’s Tuberculosis Clinic.
