2017 Microbiology Trainee Travel Award Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 Microbiology Trainee Travel Awards!

1st place: Dequina Nicholas (postdoctoral fellow – Nikolajczyk lab) will be attending the American Associate of Immunologists meeting in Washington, DC, from May 12-16, 2017.

2nd place: Stephanie D’Souza (graduate student – Kepler lab( will be attending the Gordon Research Seminar: Viruses and Cells in Lucca, Italy, from May 13-19, 2017.

2nd place:  Ian Francis (graduate student – Wetzler lab) will be attending the Second International Convention Immunovaccipharma and Vaccipharma 2017 meeting in Varadero, Cuba, from June 25-29, 2017.

APRIL/MAY/JUNE

Ludy Registre is the 2018 Corwin Award Winner

Congratulations to Ludy Registre, the 2017 Corwin Award recipient. The Corwin Award recognizes a student who exemplifies the characteristics of an outstanding departmental “citizen.” Values of collegiality, scientific integrity, commitment to scientific endeavor, and active participation in departmental activities are all components taken into account when the selection of the Corwin Award recipient is made. These values best epitomize the contributions of Dr. Larry Corwin, a former member of the Microbiology Department for whom the award is named.

2017 Russek Award Winners

We are delighted to announce the Microbiology Graduate Students who have won 2017 Russek Student Achievement Awards.  Congratulations to:
