Biospecimen Archive Research Core (BARC)

BARC is an IRB-approved, fee-for-service archive of biospecimens operated by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Various extraneous normal or abnormal specimens removed during medical procedures at the BMC have been procured from Boston Medical Center patients who have given informed consent for scientific research.

The BARC contains samples of frozen tissues stored at -80oC and/or blocked in paraffin. Investigators interested in acquiring samples must obtain IRB approval prior to access to biospecimen archive and use in their research. To access more information about the service we provide, visit the BARC page on the BUMC Pathology and Laboratory Medicine website.
