Mary Daly, MD, Named President of the New England Ophthalmological Society

Mary K. Daly, MD, chief of ophthalmology at VA Boston Healthcare System and associate professor of ophthalmology at Boston University School of Medicine, recently was installed as the 115th President of the New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS).

Dr. Daly is the sixth woman and the first VA chief to hold this position since the Society’s inception in 1884. She previously served as secretary of the Society for six years prior to becoming vice-president.

Among her responsibilities as president, Dr. Daly will have general active management of the business of the Society and serve as its Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Daly received her undergraduate degree at Harvard University. She obtained her medical degree and performed her residency at Johns Hopkins University and her corneal fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

One of the oldest continually meeting subspecialty societies in the country, the NEOS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and advancement of ophthalmology, educating its members to ensure continuing high standards of ophthalmic care in New England.
