Welcome to the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Student Research Program

We are dedicated to enhancing the research experiences for medical students at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. This collaborative effort with Research, Medical Education, Enrichment, and Student Affairs Offices is designed to encourage and facilitate outstanding medical student research experiences.

There are many opportunities to participate in research as a medical student at BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine including the medical student summer research program (MSSRP) where you can work with a research group for 7 weeks during your first summer, there is the longitudinal research program for students interested in pursing a project in depth over several years, the intensive research year experience, and shorter term M3 and M4 research electives.

As a leading research-focused medical school our scientists are dedicated to identifying new mechanisms of disease and translating these discoveries into therapies that improve human health. There are numerous opportunities to perform research while a student at BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the basic science departments, clinical departments, and specialized centers.
