Department Of Defense
The Department of Defense (DOD) released the broad agency announcement (BAA) Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI), as part of the larger University Research Initiative (URI) aimed at institutions of higher education. The MURI program supports high-risk basic research in science and engineering, and each program is managed by a program manager from one of the Services.
The Department of Defense (DoD) Appropriations Act provides research funding for the following peer reviewed programs managed by the Department of Defense, Office of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP):

U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL)
The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) program consists of basic and applied research and survivability/lethality and human factors analysis. Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) is a competitive solicitation procedure used to obtain proposals for basic and applied research and that part of development not related to the development of a specific system or hardware procurement.
New Opportunity to Engage USAMRMC for Health and Biomedical Research
The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) recently issued a new opportunity for investigators to engage with the Department of Defense (DOD) on biomedical and health-related research. The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) recently launched a new feedback submission feature to its website. Investigators can use the form to submit an abstract for feedback or ask questions. Further, stakeholders now have the option to provide input on programs and process recommendations, as well as submit reviewer nominations and other feedback. The form and submission instructions are available at the website. This tool demonstrates interest in expanding interactions with the research community beyond annual Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) and CDMRP funding opportunity announcements (FOAs). Interested investigators are strongly encouraged to use these mechanisms to build and to improve relationships with MRMC.
