Proteomics Service Center
The Proteomics Service Center is located on the third floor of the Silvio Conte (K) Building on the BU Medical Campus. The center provides label-free and multiplexed proteomics workflows for both BU investigators and the external research community. Our research faculty have extensive experience in proteomics analysis of tissue specimens and tissue slides. We offer spatial proteomics using a Leica LMD6 laser microdissection microscope and have significant expertise in TMT multiplexed deep proteomics, phosphoproteomics, affinity proteomics, and proximity labeling proteomics. Additionally, we provide mass spectrometry-based glycoproteomics and glycomics analyses. We operate two Thermo Fisher Exploris 480 LC-MS systems and offer a comprehensive set of bioinformatics services.
To meet the growing demand for tailored mass spectrometry applications across BU campuses, the Proteomics Service Center has partnered with the BU Target Discovery and Proteomics Lab (BU-TDPL) to strategically triage experiment requests to ensure they are matched with “the best instrument for the job.” The TDPL harbors a Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Eclipse Tribrid mass spectrometer, which offers specialized capabilities such as High Mass Range MSn (HMRn), Proton Transfer Charge Reduction (PTCR), and a variety of dissociation techniques, including CID, HCD, ETD, EThcD, and UVPD, providing a comprehensive range of options for intact protein analysis. The TDPL also specializes in workflows for discovering small molecule-protein interactions, including the Proteome Integral Solubility Alteration (PISA) assay, biotinylated probe pulldowns, and more.
