Biography
Dr. Yiqin Xiong is an Assistant Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and an Attending Pathologist at Boston Medical Center. She earned her Medical Doctorate (MD) from Shandong Medical University, China, a Master of Science in Physiology from Shandong University, and a PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Xiong completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, and a Gastrointestinal Pathology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.
Dr. Xiong’s clinical expertise focuses on gastrointestinal and genitourinary pathology, with a commitment to precise diagnosis and patient care. Her research explores molecular mechanisms in cancer and inflammatory diseases, with over 20 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Human Pathology. Her work on topics like gastric carcinoma and psoriasis has been supported by grants, including an NCI U01, and recognized with awards such as the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Association of Molecular Pathology Best Poster Travel Award.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Xiong serves as the Resident GI Rotation Director and mentors pathology trainees. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and Gastrointestinal Pathology Association, and reviews for journals like American Journal of Clinical Pathology.
