Biography
Talya Shahal, MD is a geriatric psychiatrist on the Consultation-Liaison Service at the VA Boston Healthcare System. She works both in the acute care setting and in the Community Living Center, where she serves aging veterans in sub-acute rehab, long-term care, hospice and palliative care, and long-term spinal cord injury units. She is an Instructor in Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School and Adjunct Instructor in Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She serves as the West Roxbury site director for Harvard South Shore Psychiatry residents and Behavioral Neurology fellows, and the VA Boston site director for Mass General Brigham Geriatric Psychiatry fellows, while also supervising Boston University medical students and psychiatry residents, neurology residents, and fellows in consultation-liaison psychiatry. She is an active member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and serves on their Teaching & Training committee. Her specific areas of interest include medical education, neurocognitive disorders with behavioral and psychological disturbances, and palliative care.
