Biography

As the volume of cumulated biological data grows exponentially, its systematic analyses and interpretations become more and more critical. However, the synergy between computational and experimental biology can be challenging due to the difficulty of clear communication between these disciplines. As an interdisciplinary biologist, my overarching career goal is to study crucial biological questions through the combination of Big Data analytics and experimental validations. Specifically, throughout my postdoctoral training and independent career, I have studied mammalian gene regulatory mechanisms at the transcription level. Through integrative and comprehensive Big Data analysis, I discovered that CpG islands (CGIs) direct modes of gene regulation, including 3-D chromatin architectures and transcriptional/epigenetic regulations. This discovery has provided important clues to the mechanism by which changes in chromatin architecture contribute to age-associated physiological deterioration.
