Biography
Dominic Pisano, MD is a clinical associate professor of anesthesiology at Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine (CASOM) at Boston University. He was appointed the Residency Program Director at Boston Medical Center - Brighton Department of Anesthesiology in October 2025. Previously, he was assistant professor of anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
Dominic received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed his anesthesiology training at Tufts Medical Center, and went on to pursue fellowship in anesthesia critical care at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Dominic has received several awards for his clinical and education work, including the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Ellison C. Pierce, MD Patient Safety/Teaching Award from CASOM.
Dominic's research interests include mechanical circulatory support, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the physiologically difficult airway, regional anesthesia and pain medicine in the critically-ill, and the advancement of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in healthcare professions. He has published extensively on ECMO and is a frequent guest editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Anesthesia. He currently serves on the Critical Care Medicine Interest Group for the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, as well as the Airway and Ventilation Management Course Committee at the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
