Originally from Texas, Brody graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in biology and coursework in genetics, but surprised even herself by pursuing political campaign work and development, specifically in consumer health and advocacy. She then served as District Executive Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Western MA, where she met countless inspiring families navigating the healthcare system and their own genetic family odysseys. These relationships brought her full circle, back to her interest in genetics and patient care, which encouraged her to pursue her Master of Science in genetic counseling from Bay Path University in 2019. Her graduate research sought to highlight a gap in services for fertility patients: “Indications for Counseling Among Patients with Surplus Embryos”. She practiced as a prenatal and oncology genetic counselor in Western MA for two years before joining the Hematology/Oncology section at Boston Medical Center, where she now focuses on oncology and family cancer risk genetic counseling.
“I am proud to be part of a dedicated team of thoughtful, caring professionals from all corners of the US and the globe. Our team culture is defined by the unique perspectives we each bring with us. As both a large academic medical center and safety-net hospital serving the communities of Boston and its surroundings, our trainees have the opportunity to engage in cutting edge research and gain real-world clinical experience by caring for patients from local underserved populations. Our multilingual team is committed to promoting cultural competency, equity and inclusion, and we strive to maintain a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve. Our goal is to provide excellent care, without exception, in a safe space for our members to learn, grow and succeed. I am dedicated to welcoming and celebrating individuals of all races, ethnicities, social backgrounds, religion, gender, sex, age, ability, sexual orientation, veteran status, and national origin.
