Biography

Barbara L. Philipp MD, is Professor of Pediatrics at Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Her work as co-chair of the BMC Baby Friendly Task Force allowed the hospital to be designated baby-friendly in 1999. She continued to help the hospital become re-designated in 2007 and 2014. She is a pioneer in the field of pediatrics and initiated the MotherBaby Summit Initiative in 2009. Since then she has lead more summits across the US. For her work she has received a St. Lawrence University Alumni Citation.
