Amrutha Denduluri, MBBS, MPH

Biography

Dr. Amrutha Denduluri is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She is a primary care physician at Codman Square Health Center and serves as a hospitalist and teaching faculty member at Boston Medical Center. As a clinical educator, she precepts family medicine residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Dr. Denduluri earned her medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, and completed a Master of Public Health in Quantitative Methods at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She pursued her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and holds board certifications in both Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine.

Her academic and research interests center on population health outcomes, with a focus on maternal and child health, global perinatal epidemiology, lifestyle medicine, and healthcare innovation. Prior to MPH, she worked with the Adolescent Medicine department at Boston University to compare outcomes of CenteringParenting group model of care with the more traditional individual visits. At Harvard, Dr. Denduluri joined the Global Health Research and Training in Non-Communicable Diseases and Perinatal Epidemiology (GRAPE) Lab, and continues to contribute to the literature on integrating perinatal mental health into primary care and, more recently, exploring the intergenerational effects of maternal trauma. During her time with the Research and Evaluation division at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, she worked to projects examining technology-based interventions to treat maternal depression and improve child outcomes, as well as research on prenatal substance use and its effects on child development. She presented her work at several local and national conferences. Amrutha also held the Community Medical Liaison position during residency and was involved with “Walk with a Doc” local chapter facilitation to promote health-based initiatives in the community.

Dr. Denduluri is passionate about medical education and she received several awards including the Faculty for Tomorrow Resident Scholarship from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. She actively mentors international medical students through webcasts, enhancing global collaboration in medical education and healthcare over the past decade. During medical school, she served as Vice President for External Affairs with the Medical Students Association of India, where she advocated for medical students and played a key role in establishing professional and research development initiatives across medical schools in India.

Beyond her clinical and academic work, Amrutha is a certified yoga instructor (RYT200). She is also engaged in community service through the Denduluri Foundation, a family-run nonprofit in India that supports education, arts, and culture. Her vision is to create a meaningful impact in healthcare by working towards enhancing population health outcomes.
