The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Associate Professor of Surgery Sabrina Sanchez, MD, MPH, has been named Distinguished Faculty of the Month for December.

Dr. Sanchez joined the BU community in 2016. She is a trauma and acute care surgeon and surgical intensivist at Boston Medical Center and serves as the department’s associate chair for faculty development and diversity. She is actively involved in research, including work related to evaluating and mitigating the effects of social determinants of health on vulnerable populations and promoting patient-centered care and shared decision-making in surgery. 

Her nominators say, “Dr. Sanchez is dedicated to teaching and mentorship. Her enthusiasm for research extends to medical students and residents.

“Dr Sanchez has the unique ability to impart valuable life lessons that emphasize the importance of compassion, teamwork and resilience.

“She has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, trainees and students alike, tailoring her guidance to fit each individual’s needs.
