At the end of each academic year, BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine recognizes faculty and staff for their excellence in mentoring, teaching and service. In the spirit of gratitude and reflection we invite you to nominate faculty and staff for the following awards:

Educator of the Year

Recognizes BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine faculty who deliver exceptional education to the school’s medical and/or graduate students, including didactic teaching, clinical teaching, or mentoring.

Stanley L. Robbins Award for Excellence in Teaching

The school’s highest teaching award acknowledges BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine scholars, teachers or innovators in medical student education.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA)

Recognizes school faculty and staff who have done an extraordinary job addressing and improving diversity and a culture of inclusion, equity and accessibility throughout the school community.

Resident Educator of the Year

Recognizes interns/residents at the school’s clinical sites, including BMC, SEMC, VA and other Affiliated sites, who deliver exceptional education to BU medical students during their clerkship year through their clinical teaching, feedback, and mentoring.

Presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, this award recognizes the value of humanism in the delivery of care to patients and their families.

Excellence in Research Mentorship

Chosen by medical and/or graduate students, this award acknowledges faculty members who have been an exceptional research mentor in a range of research activities that include, but are not limited to, biomedical research, clinical research or educational research.

Excellence in Faculty Mentorship

Recognizes faculty who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to mentoring faculty as part of their work, including peer-to-peer, near-peer mentorship, and assisting early career and mid-career faculty in developing their careers.

Above & Beyond Staff Award

Recognizes non-faculty staff who have consistently gone beyond their expected job responsibilities, demonstrating exceptional dedication, initiative and performance by taking on extra tasks, exceeding quality standards, or making significant contributions that positively impact their team and the school’s mission and values.
