The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Associate Professor of Dermatology Deborah Lang, PhD, has been named Distinguished Faculty of the Month for September.

Dr. Lang joined the BU community near the end of 2016 and re-established her basic science research initiatives and active laboratory. In addition to running a continuously funded lab, Dr. Lang teaches students at all levels from college thru post-graduate levels. In addition, Dr. Lang is involved with graduate and undergraduate research training programs and serves on several school and university wide committees.

Her nominators say, “Dr. Lang is an exemplary faculty member, giving one-on-one mentorship to all her mentees.

“She encourages her mentees to develop a scientific mindset and is always happy to listen to practice talks and presentations, and provide helpful, well thought out advice on how to better present the data being discussed.

“Not only is she generous with her wisdom and time, but she has ample kindness and empathy to spare.

“Whenever we express our gratitude for all the good that she provides, Dr. Lang insists that the best way to thank her is to “pay it forward” and by being good mentors to all the junior scientists that will come after us.
