BUSM Chair Receives Alumni Achievement Award from UMKC
Alexander Norbash, MD, chairman and professor of radiology and Assistant Dean for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) has been honored with an Alumni Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions as a medical professional by the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Alumni Association.

The UMKC Alumni Association recognizes extraordinary alumni who have made major contributions in their profession at the annual the Alumni Award Luncheon. Proceeds from the luncheon support scholarships for students with urgent financial needs. Over the past three years, the luncheon has raised more than $120,000 in immediate aid for students. The Alumni Association’s goal is to support 35 students in 2012.
“The UMKC Alumni Association has taken its signature event honoring our outstanding graduates and leveraged it to benefit UMKC students at a time when their financial need is dire,” said UMKC Chancellor Leo Morton. “The Association has been a true partner in making education more affordable and accessible to our students.”
An interventional neuroradiologist, Norbash’s clinical work includes the endovascular treatment of aneurysms, strokes and other chronic illnesses. His research has led to the development of new tools now in use for neurologic therapies. Norbash, who is also chief of radiology at Boston Medical Center, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985 and a Medical Degree in 1986 from UMKC.
