Paul Tornetta Receives 2012 Bovill Award
Paul Tornetta III, MD, professor and vice chairman of orthopaedic surgery at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) recently received the 2011 Bovill Award for his paper, “Posterolateral Antiglide Versus Lateral Plating for SE Pattern Ankle Fractures: A Multicenter Randomized Control Trial,” from the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA). The award was presented at the 2012 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting in San Francisco earlier this month.
The Bovill Award was established in 1990 in dedication of Edwin G. Bovill Jr., MD, surgeon, educator, academician and co-founder of the OTA. It is presented annually to the author of the most outstanding OTA Annual Meeting scientific paper.
Tornetta, an orthopaedic surgeon at Boston Medical Center, has won the Bovill Award twice in the last three years. In addition, he served as president of the OTA from 2005-2006.
