Associate Professor Lisa Kachnic Named American Board of Radiology Trustee
Dr. Lisa Kachnic, BUSM associate professor of radiology, chief and chair of radiation oncology at BMC, has been named to the board of trustees of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Her four-year term of service began on May 22. She was nominated by the American Society for Radiation Oncology. ABR trustees participate in leadership and decision making to carry out the ABR’s mission and set standards for the board certification process in radiology for initial certification and maintenance of certification.
Dr. Kachnic ‘s primary areas of interest include colorectal and anal malignancies, image-guided radiation delivery, outcomes/symptoms management research, and translational research. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and Gastrointestinal Cancer Research and contributes her radiation expertise to the U.S. Department of Defense Medical Research Study Sections.
Established in 1934, the mission of The American Board of Radiology (ABR) is to serve patients, the public, and the medical profession by certifying that its diplomates have acquired, demonstrated, and maintained a requisite standard of knowledge, skill, and understanding essential to the practice of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and radiologic physics. The ABR is one of 24 Member Boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
