Alexis Gallardo Foreman, NP is a Nurse Practitioner and Instructor of Pulmonology, Allergy, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine at Boston Medical Center/ Boston University School of Medicine. Her work in reducing COPD readmissions hospital-wide was presented at the 2019 6th Annual BMC Quality & Patient Safety Poster Ceremony and Reception with a poster entitled, “Reducing the rate of COPD 30 day readmissions; a multi-team approach”. Alexis is a trained Tobacco Cessation Specialist and works alongside the Tobacco Cessation Team at BMC. She meets with both inpatient and outpatient high risk COPD and asthmatics to educate them on their disease process, review inhaler technique and provides quick access for follow up post hospital discharge. Alexis works in collaboration with her Community Health Worker, Jinesa Howard, to provide support to remove barriers to care i.e. transportation, food insecurity and housing. She has a Master’s in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and background in writing culturally competent training programs for healthcare providers. She received her nursing degree from Regis College and has worked in various clinical settings in the Greater Boston Area. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
