Diversity & Inclusion Office

Welcome to Diversity & Inclusion Office at BUSM. The office is involved in a variety of activities designed to enrich the educational experiences of medical students on our campus. The Associate Dean for Diversity & Inclusion participates in the interviewing and selection of students for admission to BUSM. As a member of the promotions committees, the dean is able to monitor the progress of students and offer assistance to those students who need it. Our curriculum includes lessons in cultural humility designed to improve the education our students receive in delivering healthcare to an increasingly diverse patient population.

The office administers the Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP), a unique partnership between Boston University and 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions. Approximately 40 percent of the underrepresented minority students who enter BUSM enter through this program.
