Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, has appointed Tracy Battaglia, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine and epidemiology, as a Komen Scholar. She is one of 10 breast cancer researchers and two patient advocates to be named this year.
Battaglia joins an advisory group of nearly 50 leaders in breast cancer research and advocacy, representing more than 20 major health institutions across the U.S. The Komen Scholars are experts in laboratory research, clinical practice, public health and patient advocacy. Their expertise spans many areas, including metastatic breast cancer, health disparities, breast cancer risk, big data, genomics, breast cancer treatments, health outcomes and more. They contribute to Komen’s programs, activities and events in many ways, most notably by leading Komen’s scientific peer review process, and act as Komen ambassadors in communities around the U.S. and the world.
