Cullen Carter, MD, Named November’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month

The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Cullen O. Carter, MD, is November’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month.

Dr. Carter came to BUSM in 2015 as assistant professor of surgery. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology, summa cum laude, from Washington and Lee University and his MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery and a fellowship in surgical critical care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston as well as an additional fellowship in advanced GI, minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.

His nominators said, “I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Carter as he prepared the virtual surgery curriculum for third-year medical students. In addition, he sought out ways that I could help contribute to the curriculum using my vantage point as a student, and invited me to craft two separate lectures to deliver to the M3s. His teaching and mentorship of me during this curriculum design period, was exceptional.”

“His dedication and commitment to crafting a useful, thoughtful, well-organized virtual curriculum was phenomenal.”

Congratulations!
