Responsibilities:

• Oversee and support graduate education with the goal of increasing the quality and impact of all BUSM graduate educational programs.
• Oversee BUSM PhD programs, working with programs to set targets for enrollments and with the Dean to fund incoming PhD students.
• Work with the directors of our Master’s programs to ensure their continued success, and with Doctoral program directors to develop and sustain training grants. Graduate education is a core mission of the Medical School.
• Oversee the curricula and execution of all graduate programs, including recruitment, admissions, ongoing program activities, new program development, student outcomes and graduate alumni relations. Develop and apply metrics to measure program quality and support adjustments as necessary for all graduate programs.
• Support the well-being of graduate students and postdoctoral associates.
• Support the collaboration of the Basic Science and Clinical departments in education and graduate student research. This integration is a core value and a strategic advantage of BU health sciences, to be fostered by GMS leadership.
• Represent BUSM in discussions of inter-School and University-wide graduate educational initiatives on policy related issues involving graduate education across the University.
• Serve as a member of the senior leadership teams of the School of Medicine, involved in important decisions concerning budgets, long-range planning, and faculty hiring, promotion and retention.
