Dr. Caroline Apovian selected as 2020 Distinguished Leader in Obesity Medicine

The American Board of Obesity Medicine has selected Dr. Caroline Apovian, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine as the 2020 Distinguished Leader in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Apovian currently serves as Co-Director and Co-PI of BNORC, as well as the Director of the Nutrition and Weight Management Center and Fellowship Program in Obesity Medicine and Nutrition at Boston Medical Center. Her research focuses on the effects of weight change on adipose tissue metabolism, obesity and cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cardiovascular disease in the bariatric surgery population, disparities in treatment of obesity in underserved populations and novel pharmacotherapeutic agents for the treatment of obesity.
