Information for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in residency training in Diagnostic Radiology and Integrated Interventional Radiology at Boston University Medical Center (BMC).

All application materials are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our department participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).


Program Overview

  • We recruit 10 residents per class: 9 Diagnostic Radiology residents and 1 Integrated Interventional Radiology resident.

  • Residency begins at the PGY-2 level.

  • The program requires four years of continuous, full-time training.

  • A clinical internship year (PGY-1) must be completed prior to beginning residency.

  • USMLE Step 2 must be completed prior to graduation from medical school.

  • USMLE Step 3 should be completed prior to or early during residency.

  • All residents are expected to meet eligibility requirements set forth by the American Board of Radiology (www.theabr.org).


Interviews

  • Invited applicants are interviewed from approximately November through January.

  • Interviews are conducted via Microsoft Teams and are divided into morning and afternoon sessions.

  • Sessions include breakout opportunities to provide a comprehensive overview of the program and its culture.


Application Requirements

All applicants must submit a complete ERAS application, including:

  • Official medical school transcript

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • USMLE Step 2 score

  • Personal statement

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Dean’s letter

  • We sponsor J-1 visas only.

  • A valid ECFMG certificate is required.
