Biography

Luise Pernar, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in Gastrointestinal Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. Before coming to Boston University, she had three research fellowships. The first was a Surgical Education Research Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s, then a Medical Education Research Fellowship at The Academy at Harvard Medical School, and finally the Arthur Tracy Cabot Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Surgery and Public Health. Her performance during these appointments earned her the Harvard Medical School Excellence in Tutoring Certificate and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Surgery Excellence in Teaching Award. She has taught eight different medical courses and has served as a long-time mentor to multiple graduate students. Currently, she is an Ad Hoc Reviewer for the Journal of Surgical Education, the Journal of Obesity Surgery, the Journal of Medical Education, JAMA Surgery, and the Journal of Surgical Endoscopy.
