US News & World Report Ranks BUSM on Par with Dartmouth and USC’s Keck

US News & World Report named Boston University School of Medicine as the 34th research medical school in the US. Up from its rank of 35th last year, BUSM is tied with USC’s Keck Medical School and Dartmouth Medical School.  See the rankings here.

U.S. News uses several standards to assess the schools.

School reputation as assessed through surveys of medical deans, other top academic officers, and directors of residency programs.

Research activity was measured by the amount of grant money each school is awarded by the National Institutes of Health.

Also assessed were the percentage and quality of applicants accepted, based on students’ scores on standardized tests and their undergraduate grade point averages, as well as the ratio of full-time faculty to students.
