Work on Student Residence Park Begins

Work on both the interior and the exterior of the student residence continues. Most noticeable is the absence of the exterior material lift on the outside of the building! Work on the park adjacent to the building has begun, with the first step of grading the soil. Installation of curbing on Pike Street has been completed with curbing work on the site proceeding.

Systems News
Both Boston Water and Sewer and National Grid (natural gas) services are now connected. Security systems have been roughed-in and data and voice cables are being installed. Temporary heat is being provided on all floors with the exception of the first floor and the stairwells. Rough work on the plumbing is completed and electrical service has been roughed-in all floors except for the first.

The nine-story, $40 million structure is designed by Beacon Architectural Associates with a brick and precast façade. Its 104 two-bedroom suites that include bath, kitchenette and living spaces will accommodate 208 students, each with individual bedrooms, the standard for graduate student housing. Walsh Brothers is the contractor for the building.
