Certificates of Confidentiality
Certificates of Confidentiality are issued by the National Institutes of Health to protect information gathered for research purposes from being subpoenaed in a law enforcement action. When a research project has obtained a Certificate of Confidentiality, it may encourage participation by subjects because of the additional protection of their data.
