The lymphatic system is an intricate network of tissues and organs that recycles biomolecules, eliminates waste, maintains fluid balance, and facilitates antigen-specific immune responses. The functional response of the lymphatic system to many diseases remains enigmatic. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, the Jones Laboratory focuses on the role of the lymphatic system towards the progression of cancer. Using murine models of cancer metastasis, our future studies will continue to investigate how cancer cells survive, proliferate, and overcome immune surveillance within the lymphatic system, en route to forming local and distant metastases. Our goal is to identify molecular targets for future therapies that will enhance lymphatic system function following disease-mediated dysfunction.
