Research Symposium

The Annual GSI Research Symposium is an interdisciplinary symposium emphasizing research in Genetics and Genomics. Participation in the poster session and attendance at the GSI Symposium is open to all Boston area researchers with interests that emphasize these disciplines. Abstracts will be selected for oral presentation distinction and additional prizes will be awarded for the best posters in multiple categories. Participation in the oral presentations and poster prizes are open to all undergraduate students, graduate students in MA, MSc, DSc, PhD, MD, MPH and MD/PhD programs, and postdoctoral fellows.

Seed Grants

The annual seed grant competition supports the expansion of genetics and genomics research by supporting new collaborations between groups with diverse expertise to address (1) new scientific questions in genetics and genomics, or (2) collaborative initiatives to develop new genomic technologies that are not commercially available.  Between 2009-2017 the GSI awarded 21 seed grants in eight rounds of funding ranging from $10,000-$20,000.

Institutional License Grants

These grants makes critical software available through institutional licenses, such as Ingenuity Pathways Analysis Software (IPA).  Funds are provided by the BUMC Provost, Karen Antman, MD.  Accounts are available to all Boston University faculty, staff, students and postdocs with a bu.edu email address.
